Climate Control Storage

We offer Climate-Controlled Units to help protect your belongings.  The purpose of climate control is to eliminate the exposure of stored goods to extreme climatic changes in the environment.  Benefits of climate-controlled storage spaces include preventing damage from moisture build-up, preventing the growth of mold and mildew, and preventing the corrosion of items stored inside the unit.

Climate control storage is the only place you would want to store videotapes, albums, photographs, wood furniture, important papers and valuable antiques.

TIPS :

Here are some helpful suggestions to keep your valuables and keepsakes stored safely. For more suggestions and storage supplies, please see the on-site manager and your storage location.

  • Don't lean stored property against the walls of your storage space.
  • Whenever possible, store all boxes and furniture on wooden pallets or on boards placed on the floor of the storage place. This helps minimize potential water damage.

Make a complete list of all goods stored. Keep sales reciepts, proof of purchase, owner's manuals and warranties to prove ownership. Keep all of these records in a safe place away from your storage space.

    When storing furniture you should:

Take the furniture apart, if possible, make sure to mark the parts so you can easily reassemble them, you should leave covers/sheets on furniture (if you have any) as this will protect your furniture. Also, put any screws or bolts you have left from disassembling the furniture into a plastic bag and tape the bag somewhere inconspicuous (so you do not leave tape marks) on the furniture.

After you have disassembled a table you should put any screws or bolts in a plastic bag and tape the plastic bag to the underside of the table tops.

For beds, make sure to tie the bed rails together with rope.

To prevent scratching furniture you should:

For chairs, you should cover the legs and arms with bubble wrap/newspaper, and also stack them seat-to-seat with paper or cloth between them.
Between the floor of the storage unit you should lie a pallet or some type of plastic sheet.

When storing small expensive items you should:

Store them in the back of the storage space in unmarked boxes, and place large items such as furniture and beds in front of them.

When storing precious and breakable items you should:

Put paper into empty, top and bottom spaces in carton.
Tip bowls, saucers and plates on their sides, and use a dish pack divider for enhanced security.
Wrap the items separately prior to storing in dish pack box.
Wrap items with bubble wrap and cover them with linens for additional protection.

When storing paper items such as books and files you should:

For your important documents, we recommended file boxes.
Place plastic sheeting on top of pallets to protect from moisture.
Fill any empty space in your boxes and put the books in flat to prevent movement.

When storing small appliances you should:

Put the appliance in the box that in came in and place wadded newspaper inside the box.

    When storing curtains you should:

You should put the curtains in a wardrobe box, and put the curtain rod materials in plastic bags and tape them to the curtain rod.

When storing large appliances and equipment you should:

Leave door slightly ajar. Make sure to clean and your refrigerator or freezer before storing, and moisture and mildew may damage it. It is best to leave the door slightly open. You should also defrost your refrigator and freezer.
    Drain your washing machine.
Tie down all doors and parts that are moveable.
Store items inside your larger appliances.

    When storing clothing you should:

Use wardrobe boxes which allow you to store your clothing on hangers and save the shape of garments.
    Leave smaller garments in drawers.

    When storing kitchenware you should:

Cushion the space between each piece of kitchenware with newspaper.

    When storing lamps you should:

Wrap both the shade and the base in bubble wrap and store in boxes.

When storing mirrors and artwork you should:

Larger mirrors and paintings should be wrapped in newspaper and covered in cardboard. Wrap small mirrors in newspaper and pack in boxes.

When storing tools and gardening equipment you should:

Tie all long-handled tools together (i.e. hoes, shovels). Pack hammers and other small tools in boxes.
